It's Carnival time

Notting Hill Carnival comes around every year but 2013 seems to be the year where everything has stepped up with bigger and brighter costumes and louder music. Being a regular at Notting Hill Carnival , I believe that this year has been one not to forget in a hurry. This blog will look at some outfits that will make you fit right into the Jamaican inspired carnival.

It can be quite scary when heading to these carnivals because you do not know what to expect, I can admit this but my top tip is to have a look at past photos see what people are wearing. Especially with Notting Hill it is inspired by the Jamaican and Caribbean heritage. Why not try this two piece outfit. This is a knitted textured crop top and skirt just £70 in Topshop. This will make you stand out and fit in with the Jamaican theme with the yellow matching the flag colour.

Accessories are a must have, when being in the crowd I did see a lot of people wearing funky sun glasses. Have a look at these nice chic sun glasses. These are from a company called Tatty Devine. The eyelash sunglasses makes a change from just having a plain style.
This dress from River island is a bargain only at £28 it fits right in with the carnival vibe. This type of dress is known as a "colour block racer dress". It's bright, colourful and ideal". A lot of people at the carnival did wear these types of dresses not only was it colourful but practical too. The hot weather was ideal but can be stressful if you don't pick clothing that will make you feel cool and comfortable.
I hope this has giving you a little insight into what carnivals are like. This will allow you to make the right choices next time you have the chance to get yourself to a carnival. My last tip is to think big and bright because trust me you want to feel that you are part of the parade and not left out.
